We see you gained that foundational CE knowledge. Roy and Liath are back to tell you how to leverage that and put it into practice.

Roy: | And we’re back. I’m Roy, and I’m here with Liath.
Liath: | Hi everybody.
Roy: | This time, we want to tell you a little bit about ourselves.
Liath: | Mm-hmm (affirmative).
Roy: | I used to be a programmer. I was a web developer for about seven years, before I went into counseling. That is now ancient history, except for the fact that once you’re a geek, you never get to stop being a geek. I got roped right back into it, and now I’ve done things like I was the technology chair for the Oregon Counseling Association for about five years. I worked with the Zure Institute as the security and privacy specialist. I’ve helped several licensing boards with issues like online counseling and social media. Here in Oregon, I’m on Roles Advisory Committees with other colleagues for those topics, and a couple of different licensing boards.
Liath: | Yeah.
Roy: | Not just my own, because I’m just sort of a tech-ethics guy. I’m the geeky tech-ethics guy, and that’s just my role in life, and I love it.
Liath: | That’s very true, he does love it.
Roy: | Right.
Liath: | So much. I am PhD candidate in religious studies. My particular passion is focused on the Interfaith Movement, and I am President of the local Interfaith Council here in Portland, Oregon, where we’re based.
Roy: | That’s pretty cool.
Liath: | I also really love it.
Roy: | Yeah, I know you do, it’s great. I also forgot to mention the important thing, that I teach ethics at the counseling program at Portland State University. It occurred to me, that’s pretty important too.
Liath: | That’s not important.
Roy: | Not important? Okay. It kinda matters because it means I see a lot about how people go about learning the topics we help them with at Person Center Tech. Why do we, at Person Center Tech, as a private company, come in and try to teach people these things?
Liath: | Right.
Roy: | Well, I know that people need that foundation
Liath: | Yes, and foundation is a lot of what we really strive to provide. Right now, you’re probably getting to a point, if you completed the two CE courses, where your questions have expanded, and you’re wondering how do these principles and concepts apply to me. What are the actions that I need to take for my particular practice?
Roy: | Mm-hmm (affirmative). Liath, I’m starting to feel a little overwhelmed, that’s a lot of stuff.
Liath: | We don’t want you to feel overwhelmed. We actually want to remove the overwhelms, so that you can focus on client care. We know that’s what you are most passionate about, so that’s where we come in.
Roy: | Yeah.
Liath: | If you’re feeling that overwhelm right now and need some peace of mind, what I invite you to do is reach out to me for a free resource consultation.
Roy: | Wow.
Liath: | I can help provide some specific answers to your particular questions.
Roy: | That sounds pretty amazing Liath. What if I’m curious about what that whole risk analysis thing that I learned about? Can you help me figure out how to deal with that?
Liath: | I can, exactly. That’s something that is really important, which many clinicians aren’t really aware of what they need to be doing. Like you say, it’s not something that’s taught in grad school.
Roy: | Even now, I teach in a grad school, but I can’t really give them a lot of details. We just don’t have time.
Liath: | Right. We try and provide that depth full and actionable information, and the tools that make it possible to do what you need to do.
Roy: | Well of course, risk analysis is kinda theoretical. What if I just am trying to figure out what email program to get?
Liath: | We can help with that. Basically, any question that you have that relates to utilization of tech in your practice, we’ve covered it, or we can cover it.
Roy: | Yeah. I thought for a second, is that true? Yeah, pretty true.
Liath: | It’s true.
Roy: | Pretty true.
Liath: | It’s true.
Roy: | Right. Okay, so if someone needs some guidance on how to use our resources, and find what they need for their particular questions, they can just schedule a call with you?
Liath: | Exactly. I am here to help, and that’s actually my favorite part of this job is getting to connect with all of the wonderful people who are helping our community. Our little tagline is “Helping the Helpers.”
Roy: | Yeah that’s right.
Liath: | And that’s what we really love to do.
Roy: | All right. Well, you know that reminds me of what we’re gonna talk about in our next video. We’re gonna show you how Person Center Tech is set up to really get you pretty much everything you need for tech in your practice. Make sure you join us then, open that email when you get it, and we’ll see you there.
